The Colour-Aussie Culture in Pictures

http://www.thecolour.com.au/2010/03/3-deep-design/

The Colour is a reader submitted collection of beautiful Australian images. All approved images appear on the homepage and individual profile pagest’s a great way to share your favourite Aussie discoveries, and for Aussie creatives it means exposure.

This website is categorised into design areas like Illustration, Photography etc, making it less time consuming when looking at designs that you want to look at, and with what area. It informs us of young individuals that want to present their designs and images.

3 Deep Design Studio

 http://www.3deep.com.au

Based in Melbourne Australia, for over 14 years the practice has crafted programmes for the the finest galleries, private clients and organisations around the world, notably Steven Klein & Madonna for Louis Vuitton, The Australian Ballet, Seven New York, Metaproject, Toni Maticevski, Wheels & Dollbaby and Materialbyproduct.
3 Deep's clients are discerning and appreciate emotional and intellectually driven design.
The practice believes in delivering memorable and considered experiences that are underpinned by a commitment to ideas, design and luxury.
But where luxury was once defined on the basis of material objects, the value placed on them and the social achievement gained through acquiring them,
3 Deep understand that the discerning consumer is now viewing luxury products and services as a means to an even larger personal pursuit, self–discovery, self-expression, and self-fulfillment.
Through the unique and highly personal experiences that luxuries help provide, they are no longer content with selecting from a standard roster of premium and super premium brands. They choose to explore new realms of luxury - all of which must be discovered and defined personally. All of which require a bespoke, personal and considered approach.
Their practice is accustomed to working at the vanguard of design practice and it is not uncommon for 3 Deep to redefine boundaries, advocate for change or champion a more sophisticated and intuitive approach.

With 3 Deep Design, I like how the practice has an array of applications with product design, poster design, photography, illustration etc.
The website is broken down into sections, starting with their practice as I've written above, their Art Direction, Exhibitions, Visual Identity etc. Their website involves and invites you into their designs, and processes.

INDIE ART AND DESIGN BLOG

http://www.indie.com.au/blog

I have been fascinated and into 'Indie Art & Design Blog' for a while now. This website can keep me entertained for hours, with blog updates, what's new in store, advertisement for other designs, sponsorships etc. Also is helpful with advertising for other individuals of the same style. Indie art & design is a web site dedicated to promoting independent designers, artists and labels from Australia

INDIE ART AND DESIGN STORE- The indie store stocks some their favourite things from a wide range of Australian indies.

Black Sheep Pendant handmade by Little White Dish in fine white Limoges porcelain

Great Short Stories of the World screen printed cushion by me and amber. 100% linen cover with quality 80% feather, 20% fibre insert

Compacts - Giftware from Marie Larkin's original artwork

BLOG- The blog showcases Australian products from all over, boutiques that stock them and indie related exhibitions and events.

Illustrator and comic book artist Matt Huynh. Exhibition: Alluvia

Huynh has intriguing illustrations that combine a comic book aesthetic with expressive pencil, charcoal & painted work, with complex underlying themes. Many of his illustrations are dense with narrative - as if a comic book has been compressed into a single frame. His collection of illustrations reflect upon enduring fragments of the universe in person that harmonise towards a holistic and romantic relationship with our future.

How far for Digital?

By Michael Tompert and Paul Fairchild (image from monster children blog)
Apple. Sure, they look amazing, and when they work ... pure bliss. But when they don't ... my god you want to take to them with an axe, in which this image shows just that documenting the whole process to brilliant effect. Is this the new style for Digital Design, decomposing what our humanity has just invented?

Monster Children Magazine

Monster Children is a Sydney based design magazine. Issue 24 features an interview with Spike Jonze and 12 pages of behind the scenes 'Where The Wild Things Are' photos, Dane Reynolds shows his own art, Kelsey Brooks shows her use of colour.

There is also a website/blog http://www.monsterchildren.com/index/  which is interactive based and allows for links to be updated, new designs from individuals, etc. This magazine targets for young adults, that are informed with the humour and have an admiration for design.

Wooden Toy Magazine

Wooden Toy Magazine is a magazine that I've been drawn to admire and respect. Timba-Smits is the creator of the amazing magazine.

Wooden Toy no.6 Handmade Edition has everything  drawn by hand, even tiny small letters on petite, hand drawn wooden signs. The 6th edition of Wooden Toy features a huge amount of Australian designers as well as international ones. Acorn (CA), Michael Perry (USA), Cat Rabbit, Ghost Patrol, Nior, Santha King, Lilly Piri, Timba himself and so many, many more.
Wooden Toy is targeted towards a more older youth, or young adult, as well as those that admire the beauty of design.
